THE 1500-YEAR-OLD SECRET

It came to pass one year during the reign of Emperor Xuan Zong (713-756 CE), that the barbarians were becoming too interested in Feng Shui.  The Emperor was fearing that if they found out how to use Feng Shui, they might use it to win battles against him. So he ordered his monk, Yi Xing, to write a fake formula.

The monk was an honourable man and couldn’t do that, but he needed to obey the Emperor.  So the Monk decided to use a real formula but added some extra irrelevant material to mess with the people’s minds.

As time passed, the Chinese were actually taken over by the Mongols.  This was not a good time for China and it was more than a 1000 years later before Feng Shui became popular again.

During the 1600s and 1700s some books were written. The messages were contradicting.  The books mostly referred to the Monk’s formula and not the Empirical formula from the Song Dynasty.

The funny part of this story is that it is was the fake Ba Zhai that survived.  The real Ba Zhai got hidden in cryptic poems and songs.  The Emperor got his wish.  He was able to keep the real Ba Zhai from everyone for over 1500 years.
